Glad you brought this up. I have been meaning to mention this in regard
to the number of people raising their fork tubes in the triples. It
would be quite a shock to hit a big bump and have the front tire lock
up!! Alan A13 Iowa

I replaced the front fender with a KTM fender. First off it looks just
plain cool, second it made a noticable difference in how the side wind
effects handling. In a strong side wind it was just plaini hazardous
with the stocker. With the new fender its nowhere as much of a problem.
By the way, for the guy who says that small amount of fender plastic
couldn't possibly have any effect on the wind, try telling that to the
Nascar guys who have lost apiece off one of their air dams. A couple of
square inches on that big, powerful car can make the difference between
passing and being passed. At least thats the theory.

I did that several months ago. Like you I like the look and felt the very pronounced improvement in crosswind stability. Michael -- "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Micheal,
Do you, by any chance, have any photos of this fender on your KLR
that you can share?
Yesterday I had a 120 mile ride with gusty winds off the Gulf of
Mexico (Carrabelle Florida area) and got knocked around a good bit...
Note: My last 212 miles yielded 52mpg on my '07 KLR and much of that
was dirt roads and chugging around on backstreets.
There was also a bit of "competitive riding" with a BMW Dakar that
was along on the ride. You would be amazed at how nearly identical
these bikes are with a KLR in performance.
The BMW owner showed a LOT of interest in my KLR and speculated how
he got "ripped" by the high price of his ride but I must admit that
those Dakars are classy looking with a lot of snob appeal.
