2007 and 2008 deals - which is better?

I've got a revamped 1991 and I ride with a guy with a 2008. Mine's a great bike, but I like his better on the road. The big things are the better seat, front shock, brake and doohickey design. Those things are worth some cash. Off-road the older bike seems to have some design points that make it work better. Timely issue! Jim A5

Yeah the old KLR works much better off road..... You want to know why?....... Because you are not afraid to drop it....... again!!!!!! Let's not forget that the '08 has less ground clearance and suspension travel. Making it that much easier to get into situations where the extra 50 lbs and plastic breaky-bits might be noticed. da Vermonster it's also down to the wire as far as buying a new (0 miles) KLR of the old vintage.

I'm on my third, have one for a while, sell it, and get another. I actually like the 08 the best as it's the only one that feels to be solid to me 75+MPH, I actually don't off-road that much and have yet gone off road when it's muddy, etc. I have spent a long weekend 50% off road, although the road was pretty nice.

To comment on which is better DEAL between the '07 or the'08.. I think the obvious choice would be the '08. One of them is now considered obsolete & one will see a flury of new Farkle & parts available at virtually every Kaw dealer around.The '08 overall is much more improved.The ONLY drawback is the dirtworthiness & I am sure that can be addressed with Farkle upgrades.I have spent considerable time on both & I own the older style. Go with the '08...It's NEW. A couple of hundred bucks difference in price is well worth the better brakes alone in addition to upgraded doohickey,improved seat,Higher wattage alternator,improved lighting,beefier forks, the list goes on & on.I mean just look at the swingarms between the two bikes.Kawasaki made all the right improvents to the bike I can't argue with that I just worry about sticker shock from people that drop them.KLR world.com has a detailed side by side comparison between the two bikes that is worth a look. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Are you asking for information on getting to Moab or information for once you are here? I can help you with anything you need to know about Moab and the surrounding area. I am sure you will find lots of advice about how to get here from other sources. July and August are our two hottest months. Coming from "up north" I'd be prepared for some heat at that time. If you are going to be in the Moab area the end of May, be sure to attend the Canyonlands Motor Classic.
