san diego tech day

Frozen friends, I ride every day in the glorious sunshine, so I have no time to worry about oil. But when I see the stuff that comes out of the beast s belly after 1500 miles, I would definitely recommend changing it. It may vary depending on the revs, time and temps, did you make the oil suffer, or did you give it an easy time. For dooing the doo, I can tell you that I did it without previous experience, and without a mentor around. There is great info on the Mark Net pages, and also on Leftcoast KLR site I believe, other people on the list may be able to give you the correct www. It can be done. I don t understand the thing about earplugs. First of all, I don t think the KLR is noisy. Secondly, I want to hear everything, like my own engine, is there a car coming from behind, is Jennifer calling my name, stuff like that. A helmet that can be closed and opened is all you need, and sunglasses, I don t see no need for goggles on a normal ride. Nor handguards, unless you want to ride among the trees. I cut off an inch from my brake and clutch levers, so if I drop the bike, nothing breaks, or brakes. Keep it simple. That is for short, daily rides. If you plan to drive from Vermont to San Diego, and then to Alaska, hence to Cape Horn, you may need different set ups, and a masochistic inclination. Suffer! Charlie, Maybe you should practice going up and down the stairs on the front or side porch before attempting the bulkhead :>) Seriously though , it is a great place to do your work, but with two friends to help with the bike will make the move much easier. The way in can be done with only two people, if you put the bike on belay, by tying a rope on the rear rack and slowly lower.it while the other person steers and front brakes. I have done this many times, but never attempted the ride up or down, although I have ridden out of a box truck on a narrow ramp. I remember in my youth helping an angel friend, bring his sporty up three floors on the fire escape at his place in Salem, MA, so that he could do a rebuild over the winter. By all means , bring the bike in,but get help, also be careful of what type of chemicals you use in the house near the furnace, and remember some of these are very aromatic.
