Right, and how it worked was, any box greater than 10 rnds manufactured during the ban had to have a serial number on it and were only available to law enforcement. Thus, a magazine without a serial number (or any markings whatsoever) was assumed to be made prior to the ban and was therefore legal. Which means a skilled kid in high school metal shop could crank these things out all day long (as long as the teacher didn't notice and his friends didn't blow the whistle). Once they got home or into someone else's hands, they would be considered pre-ban mags because of no serial number. The politicians only think guns should be used to hunt ducks & deer, and serve no other purpose, but the politicians also don't know shit. If they did, the above loophole wouldn't exist. Also, the so-called "assault weapons ban" would have actually banned REAL assault weapons (i.e., full auto 'machine guns' which were still manufactured and obtainable), and not the semi-automatic look-alikes (which aren't predominantly used in crimes anyway). Mark (not a right-wing militia nut; I just think guns are fun and congressmen are stupid)

FWIW, up here in Canada, we're NOT allowed to protect ourselves, BUT, if we were, I go along with the old adage that ... a solid hit with a .22 beats hell out of a near-miss with an .897 Triple-neck Dragon Slayer! Say, a Ruger 10- 22 with a 25 round banana clip and CCI Stingers. You could make something MIGHTY sick! Ed

I've got the 10-22 and the CCI Stingers but never got a larger magazine before the ban was instituted. They mentioned the exact same thing in a gun magazine years ago, although that's not the reason I bought the 22. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa

Folks, I reside in Canada, and I now own one pistol. It is a .50 cal percussion fired muzzle loader. The regulations on owning, transportation, licensing, and so on are identical to all other pistols. I once told one of the do-gooders in the jail where I was a guard when I bought it that it would take me about half an hour to do a small massacre. She was not amused In Canada it will be against the law soon to offend anyone, I expect. I think that this is the last bastion of political correctness.. DC Dooden wrote:
