 Thanks for the compassion guys!

Hard lesson to learn - especially, when I'm feeling so innocent.

I'm very anal when working on my bikes - guess that's why

it hurt my ego a taint.

I wasn't aware there were "after market" parts for things like this.

I ordered a Kawa OEM replacement from ronayers.com

Thanks again.... just getting a little anxious to ride. My stress

 reliever.

Do you use Opera to log into yahoo and type that ?

Whenever I use Opera, despite it looking right on the screen it always
adds blank lines to the post.

It sounds like nothing would have made a difference, that the threads were already 90% ruined. Just as well you found out in the garage and not on the road.> > ~ I'm VERY distraught. > ~ I should have pulled it off when it felt strange. Only supposed to be > ~ 18ft/lbs. This is why I learned to change my own tires. The knowledge, and the minimum set of tools required to do the job, have paid for themselves 100 times over.> Bummer part is I have been down for 2 1/2 weeks > ~ waiting on new tires after a blow out
I salute you for having the restraint to not have the caliper bracket "critical ordered", Ronayers gets it from Kawi in 24hrs and then overnights it to you. $$$$$! I agree on not helicoiling it. I would replace the bracket and be done with it. Devon> and now 7-10 days from ronayers.

throttle cables
I am. The return cable AFAIK is a DOT regulation, and not something that
 the carb actually needs.

If I were you I would try fitting up the return cable as a pull cable,
BEFORE you have to figure it out in the middle of nowhere. I don't know
for sure if it will work as I never tried it. I carry a spare opening
cable, and have the other cable opening in the throttle housing covered
 up with duct tape.
