Both of my forks were a tiny bit leaky, and I worried I'd have to rebuild them this winter. I found a tool by motion pro called Seal Mate. It was affordable at around $7, but with shipping, and the simplicity of the design, I figured there was a better way. I watched the video on how it worked, then decided that there was no reason I couldn't make the same thing out of a 2 liter pop bottle. Here's the link to how it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wlzfoVroSY&feature=youtube_gdata_player I cut one to the same design, and popped off my dust covers, cleaned them, and cleaned the seals. Neither of them are leaking now. Hopefully someone will find this helpful. -- GLDS Mailing List Options --- To remove your address, email: To see the messages on a web page (archives): http://gldsmc.org/mailman/private/glds_gldsmc.org> To get your password for this mailing list, email: List Manager: President@... -----Inline Attachment Follows----- -- GLDS Mailing List Options --- To remove your address, email: To see the messages on a web page (archives): http://gldsmc.org/mailman/private/glds_gldsmc.org> To get your password for this mailing list, email: List Manager: President@... did i kill it - my battery

Maybe not. The fact that it didn't hold a charge for two weeks is not a good sign, but you may be able to retrieve it. Using a big charger is the way I start a charge when I have a discharged battery, but I don't leave it in place for more than half an hour or so before switching to a trickle charger. Let the battery sit for a while, and re-check the voltage. If it is a slosh battery, check the electrolyte level and top it up if necessary, then let it sit overnight on the trickle charger. The voltage on a good battery at rest will be around 12.6-12.8 v. It won't drop below 10 v. when you crank the starter. If the charging system is working properly, the voltage at idle will be around 13.1, and will rise with revs until the regulator cuts it off at 14-something. Check the battery again after letting it sit overnight. If it still holds 12.6, you may be ok. If not, you may still get some use out of it, but it needs to be replaced.
