vance & hines xcr exhaust update

Post by dat brooklyn bum » Fri Aug 03, 2012 10:51 am

Prior to putting this exhaust on, I had installed a KLX needle on the 2nd position, adjusted the idle mix screw, and drilled the slide. My mileage was usually around 44 mpg with these mods and the stock, detweeted exhaust. Installation of the XCR improved throttle response across the powerband, though I doubt I gained any significant hp. The torque on the bottom seems much improved and roll-on power from 3K to 6K rpm is definitely up. My mpg went up 47 on my first tank, and I wasn't taking it easy with the throttle. This is all with the quiet insert. I will never find out what the race insert does for the package because it would be way too loud for me. Loud pipes lose rights. Once I get the spark arrester insert I'll let you know how that goes. Is it worth the investment? It is if you can get one for $76 with a bag of packing like I did. da Vermonster

bridgestone uhd tube update

Post by Tengai Mark Van Horn » Fri Aug 03, 2012 3:37 pm

I'm mounting new tires on the Tengai today and just pulled off the old ones. The Bridgestone UHD innertubes that were in the wheels were mounted in May of 2005 and have gone through 2 sets of Conti Escapes (16,000 miles total. The tubes are in pristine condition and I would be confident to use them again. However, I bought a new set of tubes just in case, and will mount them since I already have everything apart. I'll mount the old ones on a backup set of wheels I keep in the garage. Mark

bridgestone uhd tube update

When you take off your BS UHD tubes, see if they don t sound like there are BBs inside your tube. For what ever reason, these tubes seem to pick up rubber and make little balls that roll around and make noise but don t seem to effect anything else with these tubes.
