rear wheel installation 2007 klr650

Sounds like you at least have the caliper off. That's the first step to fairly easy wheel reinstallation. What I do is sit on the ground at the back of the bike with the wheel in my lap. With all the spacers in place, I slide the wheel straight in from the rear. That lets the bits slip in without running afoul of the little ridge on the inside of the swingarm. Hold the wheel in place with your feet or knees, and slide the axle in. I do it from the left, which is the way I found my bike; some find it easier to insert the axle from the right, so as to catch the caliper carrier right away.

I have removed/installed the rear wheel many times, usually on the side of a dirt road, but its been a long time. I cannot get the wheel to fit between the swing arm and get the brake caliper back on. I am doing something fundamentally wrong, I do not know what. A few words of wisdom are needed, I am sure it is one simple trick my old brain cannot recall. Thanks! >
