Hey Fred
I'm asking on list, becuase I know that I often benifit from others questions.
Like a reminder to check the tripple, and advanced warning, info on the star washer.
Clutch part? you talked about replacing (oem #13102) Clutch release, (cable attaches and goes into clutch) with one that is longer, so it reduces pressure needed not only on the handle to pull it in but ALSO THE CABLE. (making it last longer & not break on a trip so fast.)
I did not see it under "Controls" or Accessories.

(fred h.) clutch part?
Since the longer clutch arm is neither a control or accessory item, you won t find it there. You should look under the KLR/Engine section about half way down.

A few yrs back I took my camper from Mi. to Colorado springs.
When we hit Denver during rush hr. (SLOW down speed up. repete) the truck started acting funny like the tranny was shot, barly moving, High RPM'S to get it going 40mph.
Engine sounded Fine, All the meters good, Just NO power, MUST BE the tranny.
I thought Well 60+- more miles to go to get to the springs KOA, If the tranny is shot, nothing I can do here, lets atleast get the Grandkids and camper to the springs, & near family, etc. And I know guys in Lodge there. So I just pushed it, 25-40mph down the freeway.
After unloading the camper I called the local Masonic Lodge for a referal to get the tranny taken care of.
Drove 20 miles to the shop, He took it for a test drive, He said PERFECT. (HUH).
The sensor's were thrown off by the altitude and the stop & start rush hr. traffic, WHILE PULLING a 28ft camper, It just needed to 20miles of steaded flow to get a "reading" and reset.

(fred h.) clutch part?
Some unsolicited advice: 1. be careful removing the old one, pull it straight out, and slowly. It has a sharp hook near the bottom where it's cut out to grab the end of the clutch rod. That little hooky part can catch on and damage the oil seal on its way out. Don't ask me how I know.
2. If you need to replace either that oil seal or the bearing under it, don't mess with seal picks and such. Borrow or buy a blind bearing puller (good quality but spendier at Motion Pro, cheaper but -well, cheaper - at Harbor Freight) and use that. Again, don't ask me...
3. I got the part from a different source (Fred wasn't selling them then), and its vertical shaft was about 1/10" longer than the one I removed. So the external part (the release lever itself) sticks up about that same distance. After several years of psychoanalysis, I decided not to worry about it, just put a solid rubber washer on the shaft between the bottom of the lever and top of the case, for looks as much as function.
But out of interest, would you please let me/us know if the two shafts are different lengths? I never did figure out why that would be. -JWF
