Thanks for the replies to shaping seat foam!!!! I got a couple good ideas from y'all and one of my own. I'll make it work and I may get a comfortable seat after all. Thanks again. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

weird electrical issue

This is on my Concours not the KLR, but I guess could take place on the KLR. I have been having trouble with the fan not always coming on when the temp gauge starts to go toward hot. Normally it does and you can sometimes hear it running while at a light. When in hot weather, the fan usually is running after you turn the key off until it cools down. As I understand it the fan is wired directly to the battery. The other day, I rode about 40 miles to a friends to check the fan out but it was working when I got there so we just talked for a couple hours. Went to leave and the battery wasn't strong enough to start it so the friend jumped started it and it ran fine on the way home. The friend suggested using a voltmeter on the battery and it checked out at about 12.8 with the engine off. I went to start it and no nothing except lights. No starter sounds. I went out and checked the battery again and it said between 12.5 and 12.8. I pulled the battery out and looked at the cables where they attach to the battery and they looked fine. I started it and it was a little weak but started and I went out on the freeway for about 30 minutes at 70mph. It ran fine. On the way back, I could hear the fan running at a light. I got home, let it run a couple of minutes to get warm and see if the fan worked after I shut the engine off which it normally does if the engine is warm. It is about 70 degrees here today (Texas). The fan didn't come on. Then I turned the bike off and went to restart after a minute. It tried to crank but didn't have enough juice. I let it sit for about 5 minutes, then hit the starter and it started although a little weak. I shut it down again. Then I tried to restart and didn't have anything but lights. No started sounds. It is a maintenance free battery.????? Criswell Sent from my iPad
