( pass the Kleenex)After messing with the exhaust, thinking it would be cool,...Wrong.. removing arrestor,baffles,2 inches tip, on stock exhaust, looking for the QUIETest slip on you guys can think of ,still need plenty of flow 'cause of mods, air box,re-jetting. lexx muffler review (was "(klr650) no more loud")
OK, I confess. Against the advice of my betters, I installed that Lexx I said I was going to return. It is definitely louder than stock, I have no way of figuring how much.
Price was right. It went on fine once RockyMountain helped me fix a stupid mistake I'd made (good service by the way). I couldn't get the can to sit exactly vertically, it's rotated just a bit clockwise, viewed from the rear. And the right side cover just barely goes on. I put heat reflective tape on the edge of the side cover where it touches. And one of the pairs of eyelets that the springs hook onto isn't lined up right, but the can seems to be holding on to the midpipe just fine with just one spring installed.
I drilled out and adjusted the idle mixture screw at the same time. Either the new muffler or that adjustment cured the stumbling just off idle. I'm guessing the muffler didn't make the bike any faster, it just looks cooler and sounds faster, and it's about 4 pounds lighter. Gas mileage unchanged (46mpg around town and a little freeway).
Hope this helps. -JWF

Until they get over the notion that the only engine in the world is the 45-degree, single-pin, push-rod, air-cooled jobby, and that a frame should be welded tube steel, they'll be relegated to one small segment of the motorcycle market. >
