batteries -my shorai lithium iron review
The Lithium Iron batteries are not Lithium Ion batteries. The Lithium iron batteries don't explode when rapidly discharged, shorted, or crushed. Lithium Ion batteries are flaky suckers. People who use them for model aircraft as I do charge them in a ceramic or metal container, as they have a bad habit of bursting into flames.

I never heard of a KLR battery getting squashed. It is safely tucked under the seat. I suppose if a car or truck runs over the bike(and you), it could explode or catch fire but you would probably be dead already anyways.

new stebel air horn
Looks like Stebel is coming out with a new improved air horn. They are advertising that this is: "More water proof than Nautilus Compact". I have read (advrider.com) that some people have been having problems with water in their old Stebels. Fred, have you hear anything of this? I see you carry the original Stebel nautilus.

I've never had a significant problem with mine, BUT:
It's mounted behind the right side radiator cover (on an '09), with the horn opening facing the cover (with an air gap) so there's no direct spray into the horn.
The horn is a two-tone horn, and there have been a couple of times that I only got one tone, or it started with one and then the other came in a second later. This does seem to be most likely moisture related because after it blew out or dried out otherwise it works perfectly again.
To me, it's a "must-have". Even when it's down to one tone it is still leaps and bounds louder than any other horn I've tried on that bike. Commuting here in L.A. I consider it a requirement.

new stebel air horn
There are several ways for water to enter this horn. I believe the problem is when these horns are submerged or take water into the air inlet of this horn. Stebel provides an adapter for an inlet hose that is to be run to a protected area like under your gas tank. If this adapter is not used or water is allowed to enter the inlet, then the horn could have problems. I see this new horn has a plastic cover over the top of the compressor, so maybe they thought that this area was not sealed well enough. I don t see this as a problem with just the Stebel air horn but any air horn that compresses air to make a horn work. You have to have an air inlet and an outlet. The Stebel compact air horn is still the loudest motorcycle horn that I know of.

There is a guy named IdaBiker on KLR650.net that makes an improved solid state relay kit (seems the relays supplied with these are prone to fail).
The KLR650.net thread (looks like Jeff already knows this):
