grip heaters & vista-cruise

Hope to get my grip heaters, new grips, & Vista-Cruise installed this weekend. The clutch side heater installation is entirely straightforward. However, on the throttle side, it seems to me the wires for the heater will have to loop around the outside of Vista-Cruise housing. Trying to run them inside the VC looks like a sure way to pinch/cut the wires and also ensure the VC doesn't work either. Have experience with this? Dave
