<><><><><><><> <><><><><><><> Kostas, Well done. Glad you've got an answer to your first question. I hope the swap goes well and the results meet your expectations. When you get the parts maybe compare the shock bolts and shock set up. I've heard they are different but don't have any personal experience with them. Since your friend has metal working capabilities you should be able to make any modifications you need. klr tie downs
Not wanting to crush the front forks on a bike that had a low fender (preventing easy use of a spacer between the wheel and lower fork clamp),
a friend suggested a Canyon Dancer(tm) handlebar harness. It provides soft tie points for front tie downs and by design cannot slip off the bar ends.
The best part is they work without using a lot of tension on the forks. Bike motion to one side automatically tensions the opposite tie point. So, the bike may move a little more than with a fork bracing spacer. But, the bikes were always secure. For added security, I tied the rear of a bike at either a luggage rack or rear tire using a
nylon soft tie looped through the wheel.
I sold my truck a few years ago and now am *gasp* "forced" to ride a bike to a destination.

klr tie downs
Canyon dancers: "Motorcycle consumer news" gave them great ratings. (And they do not eccept advertisers)
About $29. for the set.
There are a FEW bikes that should NOT use them do to the type (long sweep) and mount of handle bars. BMW K1200lt for one, & I THINK goldwings.
Works GREAT on KLR's as Eddie explained.
