sprocket and fiche confusion

The output shaft spline is the same from 1990 to 2011. The 1990 to 1995 had a retainer plate with the two bolts to lock the sprocket to the shaft. The 1996 to 2011 output shaft have a threaded end using a locking washer and nut to lock the sprocket to the shaft. The 1984 to 1989 uses a different spline. Most all aftermarket sprockets will come in one model sprocket for the 1984 to 1989 and then a different model sprocket for the 1990 to 2011. The late model sprocket will have the two holes in it that won t be used for the 1996 to 2011 KLR. It s the same shaft spline, you just don t need to use the two extra threaded holes. They are just a general representation not an actual picture. The spline and thread of the output shaft are all the same from 1996-2007. What showed up was a Sunstar 35915 which crosses to Kawasaki p/n 13144-1163 per: http://sunstar-mc.com/pdfs/OEM_to_Sun_Crossref_FRONT.pdf Checking ronayers.com confirmed that part number but the fiche for a KLR650A14 shows the retainer plate with two small bolts and not the single large nut that I know I have. Checking the fiche for an A15 ('01) I see the setup I have with a Kaw p/n of 13144-1253 which according to Sunstar's pdf crosses to what they shipped, the 35915, so I guess I can use it, but I was concerned for a while. Thought these bikes were mechanically identical from 1996-2007, so I am confused. Did Kawasaki make a mistake with their own fiche?
