<><><><><><> <><><><><><> Tom, If I recall correctly you don't have to remove the pin to change the pads. Just remove the lock pin. Then pivot and remove the outer pad. Then remove the inner pad. Make sure the pin and spring are in good condition as the inner pad has to be able to move on it. Installation of the new pads is pretty much the reverse. Remember to pay attention to how the spring goes in before you remove it. Folks seem to have issue with that. front caliper fixed
Since I figured I could not get that pin out of the caliper on my
A 19 I ordered a used 2007 front caliper and it will get here in a week
or so. I typed in Google "pin stuck in caliper" and it brought up a
car web site and there were a lot of pins stuck in their calipers.
One guy said he drilled a hole from the other side from where that pin
goes in and then he punched it out. Well I figured what the heck do
I have to loose since I got a replacement coming. I drilled several
holes until I got lined up with that pin. I wanted to make sure I was
not going to hit the piston area. Well it took several good whacks
with a hammer and a punch to get that pin to come out. I cleaned
everything up with brake cleaner and polished the pin with a Dremel
tool. Since I drilled a few holes I plugged the hole I did not need
with JB Quick weld and with a little tape and more JB Weld I covered
the hole where the pin was. I got everything back together and
the only thing I need now is some brake fluid.
