heat shielding

Hi, I need to have my two tires change. I already bought two Michelin tires on Ebay.  I'm been calling around to find a mecanic who'll do the change, but the answer i got it's. I cant because my insurance will not cover me in case the tire blow, or ok, that will take one hour for each one at $80 hourly (total of $160, almost expensive as my tires). So I figure, I should by the tools, the inner tubes and do it myself. My question is, how hard it's to do the job and where to the tools? Sergio A15.

#ygrps-yiv-2144684281 p {margin:0;}Sergio, Changing tires is not incredibly hard.  I've done it several times.  At a minimum you'll need a couple of tire irons (7-15 buck each), some wheel weights (cheap) and some kind of stand to balance them.  If you're careful, you can clean and re-use the tubes, but I always have a spare set in case I pinch one. Check out Youtube for videos.  There are several that walk you through it step-by step.  If you're in Southern California, drop by and I'll teach you. -Jeff Khoury

While I'm remembering:

 

I have a 09' KLR and removed the right rear body panel the other day. When I did, something fell out and slid down behind the muffler a bit. Turned out it was one of the several adhesive-backed heat shields on the plastic panel that protects it from muffler heat. I stuck the shield back in place and then went around the edge of it and all the other shield bits with some silicone sealant to help hold them in place.

 

Just thought I'd share that with everyone in hopes of perhaps preventing plastic damage.
