I kept putting off doing this because whenever I saw someone doing this, they made a big most of the day production out of it by adding zerk fittings etc.
The swingarm shaft and the other shaft(with the gray plastic covers)did not want to come out so I used an impact wrench and they eventually started turning. I took the weight off the rear wheel with floor jack. Then, I just pounded out the shafts with similar sized shafts/bolts and left the other shaft bolts in. This kept things aligned while I got the corrosion off the shafts and made it simple to put the waterproof greased shafts back in.
Only took an hour.
SAME WITH FORK OIL. I just measure what comes out the little drain holes at the bottom and add back in the same amount. This also took less than an hour.
While it is obviously better to take your forks completely apart to get them clean and it is better to add zerk fittings to your rear suspension, you can make life much simpler by doing simple maintenance procedures and can spend more time riding.
