Thanks Jeffery-- It actually is a data point of use--it broke an OEM billet. Not in my memeory has anyone with the 'improved' brake billet had it broken. At least I don't think they have mentioned it, as in "wish I had not wasted my money, etal." The down side: if that billet does not break, it transfers the 'breaking-point' to another location. revmaaatin. brake billet believer 2x

Attachments : The mount breaks from sudden contact with an immovable object.

A rear master cylinder guard only protects it and the front of the brake line from snags.

The oem mount is not expensive and is sacrificial saving the much more expensive

brake pedal-lever which is weaker than the billet mount.

What breaks that mount?

will a rear mastercylinder gaurd ($16.) protect it?

or just give more area for impact to break it?

A stick on a trail that gets deflected upward by the front tire and acts as a prop... push up and "SNAP" it goes... thats what broke my OEM rear brake stay. Replaced with a eBay takeoff.. And no, however the $16 rear master gaurd will protect the line coming out the back of it master cylinder. Dooden A15 Green Ape

I sell these for Honda dirtbikes.  The Honda dual sport bike and other brands don't use these and I doubt they would do much for a KLR.  The reason is that Honda uses a larger hole for the valve stems on their dirt bikes and run lower air pressure with their rim locks.  Honda dual sport bike don't use a rim lock and uses higher air pressure in the tires to keep them from slipping on the rim.  The larger hole in the dirtbike rims is to allow the valve stem to be able to move without pulling it out of the tube.  The valve stem hole on most dual sport and all street bikes is just slightly larger than the valve stem and the nut that holds the stem tight would seal any dirt or water from getting in.  Unless you want to drill out the valve stem hole, I don't see any benefit to using the stem seal on a KLR. A brake-saver cable running from the brake pedal to the frame will protect against branches or sticks that otherwise get between the lever and frame and either break or bend the lever or break the mount. It does not protect against direct hits to the mount, but probably prevents 75% of the incidents that can break the mount. At a cost of $5 (less if you make your own) it is a lot of bang for the buck. My stock lever and mount are intact after close to 50,000 miles of slam-bang action.
