sold my klr today

Post by kelpo2001 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:03 pm

I haven't posted here in a long time, but I sure learned a lot from this forum before and after I bought my A15 new in 2002. I had never even seen one before buying it based on my research for a new bike here and other places. Yup, I sold it today, sniff. I know I will miss it and kick myself for selling it, but I can only have one bike at a time. I have ordered a new Triumph Scrambler 900. I have never seen one of these yet either, but have done considerable research on a bike that has intrigued me for many years. It was time for a change and I wanted something a little more modern and highway oriented. I'll have it kitted out with TKC80s, skid plate, hand guards, better shocks etc so I can still ride the logging roads around here that I like so much. Enough about the Scrambler. I just want to say thanks for all the help and advice I've received from you guys over the years. I still remember when a guy from Texas sent me a replacement starter for my bike before he received my money order. This forum isn't as fancy as some of the others, but you can always count on good advice here. On another note, a fellow KLR rider who has driven his bike from Montreal to British Columbia and now is down in South America is looking for a bit of info regarding the steering head bearings. He needs the bearing numbers and info on what other brands he might be able to use in place of the OEM parts. "Antontrax" has posted a very popular ride report on the ADV rider site and it is his photography that is a real treat. Check it out if you get a chance at http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=511498 My name on that forum is "nofate". Rick Korpela Chapleau, ON KLR 650 A15 sold

sold my klr today

I test rode a Triumph Scrambler 900 at the Honda Hoot a few years back. The only complaint I had is the turn signal indicator is so dim it is hard to see, even in the shade. I was in a group of about 10 riders, all on Triumphs, on a 30 minute test ride around Knoxville. For the entire ride there were turn signals flashing, mine included. We were constantly motioning to each other to turn off our signals.   One of the first frackles I would do is install a turn signal cancel or a brighter auxiliary indicator.   I have a 2007 KLR650, But before buying it, I too was considering a scrambler type bike, as I seldom go off road, but when I do I don't want to beat up the exhaust pipes/Muffler of a street bike. I think Triumph is the only company making a Scrambler now. I am considering buying an older Honda CL360, but am concerned it can't maintain interstate speeds. I think Honda made a 450 scrambler. Does any know if that can run for hours at interstate speed?   Craig Kahler .--- On Tue, 2/16/10, kelpo2001 wrote:
