Sounds like something in violation of basic principles of science, but what do I know? Just make sure that the headlight bulb has NO TINT on it whatsoever, or it's a liability. From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of transalp 1 Was in the auto parts store last night and noticed something new (to the store, anyway): Sylvania Ecobright headlamp bulbs. They are claiming to produce at least as much light as stock (3200k bulb temp. vs. 3100k for a regular halogen, iirc.) while consuming less power. Curious, I looked at the fine print and discovered they are rated at an average of 5 watts less than an equiv. normal bulb. Their H4 or 9003 is 50/60w hi/low and the newer KLR's H7 bulbs are rated at 50w instead of 55w each. It's not a lot. But, 5 watts to use somewhere else is something at least. Me? I have Silverstars in my 09' and like the extra light. =)

#ygrps-yiv-251380840 p {margin:0;}The SilverStar has no tint at all. It is a purer, brigher, higher (whiter not bluer) color-temp bulb. The drawback is that it doesn't last as long.
I love the bulb. I do get some people who flash in protest of its brightness, but not very often. A quick blip of the SilverStar in the other socket lets 'em know that it could be A LOT worse.
