I decided to wipe it off with my gloved finger, then looked right as I flicked it off to ensure the glove didn't have any bug-guts on it. I looked back up to see that the line of cars was coming to a stop and grabbed a HANDFUL of front brake, locking the wheel for about 5 feet before I moderated to un-lock it (went back later to inspect the skid-mark... ) with the attendant SCREECH, and the fear that I was gonna lose it and go down (I am always ATGATT, BTW), a VERY sickening feeling! I swerved left to pass the now-stopped cars and thanked God that I hadn't hit the last car or gone down, or not had an escape on the left WITHOUT A HEAD-ON...! Wish I had ABS.... Ed

Ah, who gets to make the decisions. "Surround yourself with people smarter than you and you will succeed." and "It is their candy store, and they get to decide who makes what candy." I attempted to help a retailer 'rethink' his truck maintenance program based on a military-maintenance-schedule of PMS. It would cost $10K more a year (fire the hayseed mech, and hire a real mech at $10K/year more.) Nope. Would not work with with individuals he had hired doing maintenance, so, 20 years later it is samo-samo; maintenance by crisis. I described his perplexity to a friend--their response: "It is their candy store, and they get to decide how to run it." It is pointless to hire smart people (advisers/workers) if you are unwilling to fully utilize their strengths. Sometimes, some succeed in spite of themselves. but this just scratches the surface-- revmaaatin.
