footpeg; lost mine on an esr

Post by Jeffrey » Wed Nov 18, 2009 11:26 pm

I rode the bike all the way to a friend's house in Berkeley from Bridgeport; through the Sonora Pass. No rear brake(a rock smashed the 300 dollar rear break lever and master cylinder also) and stopping every once in awhile to retightened the mostly stripped right footpeg one bolt that was left. When I got to Berkeley, I got 1 grade stronger and 1 size wider black allen bolts. I drilled out the stripped out nuts and retapped the same nuts to next size bigger. With Locktite, it has held fine for 15k miles. Jeffrey #3 Sonora Pass (el. 9,624 ft. / 2,933 m.) is the second-highest highway pass in the Sierra Nevada,[1] lower by 321 ft. (about 98 m.) than Tioga Pass to the south.[2] State Route 108 traverses the pass. The pass connects the communities of Sonora to the west and Bridgeport to the east. Like most high Sierra Nevada passes, the highway is closed in winter, generally between November and May, due to snow accumulation.[3]
