my sick klr's story

Post by Rick McCauley » Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:35 am

I guestion the Versys riders ability. The Versys runs the 1/4 mile in 12.4 sec @ 104.1 mph. It has a top speed of 110 mph. The KLR struggles to get into the 13's 13.9 sec. 1/4 mile, and a top speed of 103 mph. The Versys can easily outrun a KLR Rick A17

My 'position' in the demo ride was number 4 behind lead and two Connies. Trailing me was a guy on a Versis. I smiled as we pushed the 'start' button. I would let the connies get a little ahead and then would reel them in--spiritedly. At each stop sign and turn point, I made it a point to make the guy on the versis a continouusly, smaller dot in my mirror. Back at the start/finish point, the guy jumps off his bike and runs forward, staring at the KLR650, "What is that!" I just smiled, "KLR650" and walked away. He was still looking dumbfounded at the KLR for several minutes when I turned back to see the bikes. Shoot. 6 years later, I still have the same look every time I look at mine. revmaaatin. smile. Old age, experience and cunning overcomes 12.4 sec-1/4 mile everyday of the week. It also works well in a gun fight. (so I've heard.) revmaaatin.

valves check max or min clearence ?

Experience has shown that by going for the LARGE end for clearances you give a longer time between shim-changes, and less chance of engine problems that occur when your valves become TIGHT. (Starting, etc) Ed
