OK, my curiosity is overpowering my desire to not look like stupid.
What does N7TIN mean?
What does IIFTIVU mean?
And why not get into Canada with 54 40?
For anyone else that doesn't know, but didn't want to ask........ your welcome. :- )

No 'vanity' characters, just the given sequential ones.
However, they are on a 'VETERAN' plate . . . a} a very exclusive group, and
b} basically means 'Been There, Done That, Have the DD214 to prove it'.
In other words it tells idiots - 'I don't have anything to prove, on a
motorcycle or otherwise. And I really don't need to hear your Bull--t
stories'.

I have long since lost track of the number of people who asked me what it
means.

I am thinking of getting " 29N90W " on my plate. So, my Pop Quiz Question is, "Is there anyone out there in KLR land that is confused by what that plate is, means, stands for? What do you all think? Too lame? Clever? Confusing? Do you get it? Do you not get it? Also, if any of you have a custom/vanity plates, what does it say? Curious question for ya'll with the Vet plates..
How much extra cost/discount did you get on tags for being a vet ?
Thought about getting the Retired Armed Forces tags when I moved to ILL. but did'nt even inquire about them.
I know where I am at (Great Lakes, IL) I can pop out my ID and get 10% at many places, but up north, my wife inquired at a store and the girl laughed at her and then said something about geeeezz its bad enough we have to give discounts to old people, now Military wants them. Pretty much can tell you the sales transaction was not completed nor have either one of us seen the inside of that store again. Can understand larger stores have policies and such, and not getting a discount had really nothing to do with, BUT, a simple im sorry we do not would have been just fine. Laughed at and made fun of by a sales clerk no doubt younger than my own offspring was just rude.
Better put my soapbox away.

That girl needs a hard lesson in appreciation. Maybe a little time in Iraq, Iran, or Uganda would help that girl show some appreciation.
I am not a Vet, but I most certainly know what I owe them.
To any of you on this list, that are Vets, I now extend a sincere thank you for your
service to this country, and your protection of my freedom

Rick,
I have come to the realization that some people will never "get it". I used to get upset about it, I don't anymore. I live in one of the most military-hating places on earth, and I have decided that educating people is a losing battle.
I'm an 8-year USCG man, with a service-connected disability. I've done all the missions they have, and in addition to many others, I have an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, for all those folks who don't think the CG does combat.
I don't have Vet plates, but I am entitled to them as a disabled veteran. I've toyed with the idea of applying for them, but I feel they would do no good for me.
What I take from my service is not the "Thank Yous" that I get, but the experience, the training and the motivation.
I also developed a different outlook on life, seeing the desperation that some of my fellow humans have to endure every day, from the Hatian, Cuban and Chinese immigrants to the crushing poverty in Port-au-Prince, and the life-and-death nature of Alaskan Fishing as a profession. You see the best and the worst. I've delivered a baby and recovered bodies. The Alpha and Omega of life. It's an experience (good and bad) that I would not trade for anything.
That is worth more than all the license plates in the world.
