Ah, MOAB-- The Circle of Life is huge. Chains, rain, MOAB, Watson. Its all connected. When my-dear-Wastson speaks, the list should listen-- especially when he is reading the wx forecast/history. I for one am much smarter by what I have learned from your posts and research. I will not make the MOAB gig-- I did put it on my calender--for consideration. The initial plan-- Roll out of Memorial Day Black Hills rendezvous on 26 May and head West to MOAB. Then, life happens while you make plans. I got a speaking engagement/invitation in Leon, Nicaragua that weekend. During March, we were part 2 of 2-teams that constructed the walls, floor, windows of a one room, cinder block church 7m x20m (in the country)--the roof was installed by team#3. I am going back for the dedication during the weekend of the MOAB CLC. I preached in the structure before it had a ceiling and the concrete floor. In the audience was about 50 folks sitting in plastic lawn chairs and planks across cinder blocks, a variety of children, at least one dog, a chicken and a surprise visitor during the sermon--the family pig--that acts more like a dog. It was pretty funny to me but hugely embarrassing to the founding family that the pig came in through the open door and right past the pulpit. Should any one wonder about the pig-- it was not a KLR but bacon on the hoof. I will be curious to see if it is still a hoof when we arrive 28 May. How big is that Circle of Life? I am thinking about taking a KLR trip back to Managua next March for another construction mission. Roughly: 1)Rendevous in TX. Take a week to ride into Nicaragua from TX/border crossing 2)work ~7 construction days; 10 days in country. The purpose is to build another church/school/orphanage--TBD 3)Take a week to egress--perhaps via Baja north bound into CA. Funding: 1)It would be all self-funded by the rider-- Probably on the order of $2K details to follow if interested. Accommodations/Rides 2)Hostel type accommodations in Nicaragua 3)a local rider leading some dual sport rides while in country. 4) every day is a dual sport ride to the work site 5) Perhaps would have a Nicaraguan national to ride with us South and North to press through the language/border crossing/customs stuff. Mind you, All this is tentative--let me know if you might be interested-- How big is that Circle of Life? I think I will start the trip with a fresh chain and sprockets. Oh, and I'll get my-dear-Watson to read the wx forecast Hint: 'They' say it does not rain in Nicaragua in March.... revmaaatin.> > Rev, you ALWAYS write entertaining memos. Little did I know that in the middle of a chain life memo that my name would come up. I see you had some rain! That's a shame. If you ever do the ride in September, I will be there! > > Watson the sissy, who is headed to Moab this May
