Can anyone suggest the most scenic route to take or where I can get up to date info on this trail? I have a book on it that is 7 years old and I'm told there have a lot of changes since then. Dave New York

Greetings, I too have pondered the new KLR. I found it a work of art to look at. My hunting buddy got one and let me ride it. KHI gets high marks for refining this motor. It is noticeably smoother and less thumpy. Perhaps a little less torquey but still very nice power. 1. The plastic is too nice for my use. reminds me of those BMW dualsports (yeh right) . My old KLR with rubbermaid plastic is ready to haul my butt out to my deerstand. If I flop down on it, well hopefully noone will notice. 2. I have spent time making my KLR more off road worthy. In general the off road things (progressive springs, IMS pegs, knobbies, etc don't detract (much) from the ride on the pavement. But the converse is not true. Nice highway tires, soft springs, etc for the higway turn the KLR into a handful off road. I still remember deep sand and the sock dunlop tires, - bad deal, I am still picking chunks of sumac out of the radiator. 3. Don;t get me wrong, the new KLR is indeed new, and a great feeling ride, But as my priorities were for off road performance, I will keep the A16. good luck, todd Chaska MN

I have had several pre-08 models of the KLR and I have been very happy with them. What is the groups impression of the new upgrades, is it worth throwing down 5K for one? > > TK >
