<><><><><><><> <><><><><><><> Luc, I don't think you can do a visual or measurable check on the doo and spring without taking the left cover off unless you have a viewing port installed. I've heard of the viewing port in the past but have no first hand experience with one. I think it was available with multisurface dot com or something like that. Maybe Eldon Carl had something to do with it but I don't really know. When I checked on my spring I removed the left side parts to get to the spring. I put feeler gauges between the spring coils and decided there wasn't enough tension left in the spring to warrant keeping it in the engine. I replaced it with the shorter spring provided with the EagleMike doohickey. I think I did a post about that between fall of 2005 and spring of 2006. You might be able to do a search and find it if it's of interest to you.
