A couple of months ago I shipped my much-abused 2007 KLR from Germany to Orlando, Florida with Stefan Knopf. Before starting on the final 10,000 mile leg of my ongoing journey, the bike needed various work--checks and adjustments, replacement of parts and fluids, kicking of tires and testing of potential failure points.
Through this list I got in touch with Shane Bland, who has a small repair shop in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Shane spent most of an afternoon working his way uncomplainingly through my long, long list while checking out and taking care of various other stuff I'd not thought of. Throughout, he was professional, competent and thorough. As an added bonus, Shane's got at least one KLR of his own, and he's quite familiar with all the quirks and issues of the bike. Plus, he put up with my nosy, intrusive presence all afternoon while this was going on, answering my questions and explaining what he was doing every step of the way. From my perspective, he was the perfect choice, and I'd recommend him to all and sundry.
Oh, and he doesn't charge much money, either. In fact, all this came ridiculously cheap--and the running commentary on issues both related and not to motorcycling was alone worth the price of admission.
Shane agreed to let me post something about my experience with his services, but the tone and specific content are mine alone. Give him a try if you're ever needing mechanical work in that area of the world--and feel free to ask me if you'd like further details.

I left Florida during the worst day of the worst cold snap of the year...which was, in truth, no colder than an average spring day here in Washington State, but considerably less damp. People thought I was crazy to be out in such bitter cold. I just smirked at them.
Hope this helps someone, someday. Enjoy!
