Gas is Gas. the "additives is a selling catch that the oil companies use to attract customers. the same big rig, leaves the port full, and delivers to multible stations. gas is gas. there is color in the additives that determine which station gets which gas. so, lets say mobil is red, and shell is blue. this is the oil companies additive in the gas. > > so chevron with techron is no different than wal mart or costco ... gas is gas. > > Octane rating is whats important to your engine. for proper operation. you can run your bike on starter fluid, just wont last long !! hahaha > > > > > ----- Forwarded Message ---- > From: Rick McCauley > To: dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Thursday, April 9, 2009 2:36:57 PM > Subject: Re: Fw: Fw: [DSN_KLR650] Octane Rating.......Cylinder out of round... > > > > > > With all the evidence in, I wonder if: > A. gas is gas.. octane rating.......cylinder out of round...
Some localities require gasoline to have a different formulation, at
least by the time it gets to the pump. Adding ethanol, and other things,
has been required in higher-pollution areas (I'm near Washington, DC).
I think the Octane rating is the same everywhere, as it's a Federal
standard and requirement.
best,
Chris
