wd40 as chain lube among other things nklr

are we talking chains or driveshafts? -----Original Message----- From: hunter_chevy To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thu, 22 Jan 2009 7:58 am Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: WD40 as chain lube among other things nklr Haven't posted in a long time, but have been fun reading through WD40 praises and rants, so figured I'd add something a little different. When I'm not on 2 wheels, my other mode of exploration is done by atv. And for a certain group of us, our favorite areas to explore are the nastiest, muddiest, gumbo-ridden places we can find. Swamps and beaver ponds are great fun. Think of 4 mile trip that takes 10 hours to make - good fun. So as much as we like burying the 4 wheelers up to the handlebars in goop, we also take pride in who shows up with the cleanest machine (part of the fun, I guess). We all found years ago that after a good bath, it helps to slather the entire undercarraige with WD40. It does a couple of things. 1. It makes everything look black, shiny (clean) and new 2. It prolongs the life of certain things (cv joint boots, spring rubbers, etc) 3. It displaces the water after a good bath 4. It makes it slightly easier to clean the after the next trip Just thought I'd throw it out there as it might be an idea to try on you KLR next time you venture off into some great mud bog (I know, no one does that here, right Rev?) Ride safe and have fun! Jon
