hole on the bottom of the 08 thottle housing

Post by Christopher Eckert » Sun Jan 18, 2009 12:11 am

I am finally mounting the Vista cruise on my 08. It looks like there is already a hole drilled in the throttle housing right where I need one. Anybody know what this hole is and if I can put a screw a few millimeters into it? I put a picture of it one the web linked below. Sorry it isn't a great photo. I will try to get a better one if needed. If you click the image it pulls up a bigger one http://www.ginsucity.com/klr650-throttle-lock

I ve been using one for about 60K miles; bought it from Fred years ago. Has it paid for itself? I don t know; don t remember the price. If you count trips to buy a filter almost certainly yes. I got it because I didn t want to carry a crushable filter while on excursions into Mexico. Easy to clean. I use mineral spirits or Simple Green. One thing anyone contemplating purchase should be aware of. A new paper filter comes with new grommets. If you reuse grommets more than twice (6K miles) they harden and don t seal. Then...in affect..you re running without a filter. I replace these grommets every other oil change. A pair of grommets costs almost as much as a filter at the dealer. Unless......you do what I did and buy a bag of 16, or is it twenty? Bogdan, who wonders if reusable filters prevent global warming...if there is such a thing.
