And yes the rotor if a floating rotor. It;s not one solid pc. Right? Replace the rotor and pads. This should end your problem. I was considering this upgrade. You said it wasn't that much better? I'm not that disapointed with the stock. Yes you have to pull hard, but I think it stops fine. Would you reccomend this upgrade? --- On Thu, 11/6/08, hansenj32 wrote: From: hansenj32 Subject: [DSN_KLR650] EBC 230 mm Rotor Conversion Problem To: Date: Thursday, November 6, 2008, 7:01 AM About a year ago I installed the subject kit with a fresh set of the green Galpher pads and followed the break-in procedure as well as I could. Initially, I was very underwhelmed at the braking power - virtually no improvement over stock & maybe a little less. But I perservered assuming things would improve w/ miles and they did. Lots of stopping power now if you need it. But, as you are coming to stop the last few feet w/ light lever force, there's a very annoying pulse of sorts. You don't feel it in the lever, but it acts like you're squeezing the lever on and off which makes for jerky stops. I examined both sides of the rotor and can see nothing out of the ordinary, the entire surface looks the same. I've cleaned the rotor w/ denatured alcohol and really didn't get anything on the cloth nor did it improve thingd. I've not put a dial indicator on it, but I would think lateral run-out would be leaving some marks on the surface. Is the rotor supposed to float? Mine doesn't budge when I push on it. Any siggestions would be appreciated. Jake [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
