nklr energy independence is a crisis. where's the people's bai

One more point Brian: this is a large planet, but sooner or later all that oil will be gone. How will we heat our homes then? How will mass quantities of food be transported then? Some people say that at that point we'll come up with cleaner ways to address these problems. It seems more prudent, to me, to come up with those solutions now. And in that way we can leave a better planet to our offspring. The question is which candidate do you think will be more aggressive in developing clean energy? To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.comFrom: boulder_adv_rider@...: Sun, 5 Oct 2008 21:50:20 +0000Subject: [DSN_KLR650] NKLR Energy independence is a crisis. Where's The People's bailout? Folks, we need to rally together for energy independence. I can't say how sad I am to see our country deteriorating while we fund the world's development and terrorists via our oil addiction. This country has to come together and take a stand against Congress and friggin special interests. Otherwise, the freedoms that dwindles each year won't be here for future generations. I enjoy riding my KLR and sharing this forum. However, it's not a Constitutional right. If we don't get off our oil addiction, others might never get such opportunities. Jobs--mostly manufacturing--continue to go overseas (159k jobs lost with the latest job report). We are starting to go beyond a tipping point. It is a crisis. Right here and now. Of course, I don't have all the solutions. In fact, I'm better at fixing KLRs than meddling in politics myself. But I'm good at identifying one thing as are most in here: things that are dangerously broken. Our government led by Jackass Bush has systematically driven things to the brink. Biden called Chenney "the most dangerous Vice President we've ever had." Wow. You'd like to discard it as rhetoric, but the crazy thing is no one disputes it!Now, I'm not here to argue for Obama or McCain; Republican or Democrat. Rather, remind you all how important energy independence is. However is stepping in and up to run this nation needs to understand clearly We the People are loading him into the breech of our public weapon. The weapon that will wage a war on energy independence. Don't take the job if it's not a top priority. Where these jackasses and the special interests are getting in the way, we need to drag them out of the way by their hair. Enough is enough. The Bush oil wars need to end, and we need to create jobs here in America and go back to strengthening our nation. Serious capital directed to alternative energy will create jobs here and lower costs of energy. The truth is good economies are predicated on cheap energy. Paying $4 for gasoline and high heating and other energy bills is just eroding real incomes. Our Congress simply needs to STOP irresponsible spending. For example, $10B a month in Iraq building its nation is unacceptable. At $4/watt installed (high estimate) that's 250 million watts of solar energy and jobs created getting it installed. We could be doing this monthly while spending a lot less to strengthen our own national security here at home. We'll never prevent every terrorist attack. We're wasting our money fighting these wars. Every country leaving Afghanistan comes out defeated...cut above the eye, fat lip and severe limp. We'll be no different. Instead, let's enjoy a tidy backyard instead of trying to clean up the messes all over in the world. When more countries decide to put skin in the game and rout out the evil, then we'll consider the problem real. Right now we're doing more harm than good and getting weaker each day. Not to mention pissing away opportunity and people with a ridiculous addition to oil.I would sure like to see something like this being built in America vs. United Arab Emirates. Not it's their second building...not even done with the first. And we can't even get our Towers back!http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081005/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_dubai_world_s_tallest_buildingLastly, I'd be nice to enjoy a weekend without having to feel uneasy for our men and women in harm's way. I'd sure like to see them get the hell out of these places and put an end to the horrific injuries and body bags being delivered weekly to shattered friends, family and loved ones.Brian - who believes a vision is a dream with a mission _________________________________________________________________ Want to do more with Windows Live? Greg - Great response. Unfortunately, we didn't rely on the government to bring us a solution for polio any more than discover electricity. Of course, incentives do help but really 'necessity is the mother of all inventions.' Imagine, if we left the government to bring us an Ipod or Garmin GPS? The point is the private sector will provide the solution(s). Right now special interests (lead by lobbyists) and Big Oil aren't rolling-over. And George Bush is so stupid he has no idea what's happening to the middle class nor does he care. The guy is drunk with glee his constituents and foreign oil allies are enriching themselves at great cost to our future and soldiers. Look at the recent bill. The American people called and told the HoRs (House of Reps) NO BAILOUTS! The HoRs listened! It was a victory for the American people. But then the corrupt Senate revised the turd bill, sprinkled it with powdered sugar and presented it to the HoRs. Basically, this was shoved down the throats of the American people! All of these jackasses including McCain and Obama should be ashamed for voting yes. It's difficult to choose a President when both voted for this sham! It's corrupt. We add pork to a bad bill and it's business as usual. Look no further than a bicycle/commuter tax incentive bill that's failed for 7-years (originated by Senators in Oregon) and passed when stapped to this $700 billion bailout bill. The same sham bill that We the People said No! Every one of these [expletive] crooks that voted 'yes' should be voted out of office in Nov. Makes it hard to pick a President now doesn't it? The bottom-line is we're bailing out banks when our economy is in a crisis. It's not a credit crisis. The banks simply are choosing not to loan! The unpatriotic bastard banks that within months killed off all the competition--effectively acquirinig them all for pennies on the dollar--now want to hold American taxpayers hostage unless taxpayers buy all the toxic rubbish that was acquired with the bad businesses. You see, the banks have no one to dump this crap on. So they decided to send a message to George Bush and the wealthy, either bail us out or we're taking the WHOLE thing down. Which is why the American people said...burn [expletive] burn! Middle class Americans have far less to lose than the wealthy...which is why the corrupt bill passed. Now, imagine in 2001 after 9/11, we took all the Iraq war money and pumped it into alternative energy? We'd be on near 2010 and energy independent. Instead, we have nearly $10 trillion in national debt, 2 unending Vietnams with a $10B+/mo meter running, and piling on another trillion in bailout. It's horrific. It's corrupt. If we rely on these crooks to continue, I can assure you we'll all be pushing our KLRs and fighting for freedom again as indentured servants. You'll notice how quick Congress was to enact tougher bankruptcy laws. No bailouts for the individual because the mantra is to keep all servants extremely indebted, scared, and looking to the US Government to protect you. This b/s has to change. So yes, alternatives now. Enough is enough. Americans have to maintain cash budgets and get rid of the credit. The more they're pinned under the thumb of "the man" the harder it is to join the voices and force of reason. Our children will appreciate a future at least as good as ours. But you'll notice what we have is slipping. The middle class is rotting away. It's not good. Alternative energy will play a huge roll in turning things around. But a slow transformation means more of the same. It's going to be a strong message from the American people: we want change and we want it now! It is NOT going to be a new President. The entire Congress is corrupt, folks. A 10% approval rating! 9 out of 10 believe the system is a disaster. Not our Constitution or due process--but the people and influence of special interest. I hate to say it, but civil disobience might be the only answer. In our history, our freedom fighters--our soldiers--paid a dear price for what we enjoy. I think they'd be sick looking at what we've become. We need to get on track in a very bad way and certainly rallying around alternative energy is a great place to start without turning things into an others LA riot. I fear if nothing is done, the consequences will make those riots seem like a playground disagreement. At this point, it's not just solutions and road maps. It's action. It's doing something now. We have plenty of technology to prevent things like senseless train accidents yet mismanagement of funds gets in the way. CA and MA are now begging the US govt for loans. Honestly? What the hell has gone wrong with our so called leaders? This place is completely a mess and Americans should be outragged and demanding action. These brain-fart bailouts constructed in days will likely get in the way of reviving our nation yet SOMEHOW we let a corrupt Congress do this crap to us! The time and private solutions are now. Solar, wind, bio fuels and nat gas are the lights at the other end of the darkness. Nuclear power will contribute but I urge all of you/us to rethink this. Bush and McCain pimp ethanol...and praise nuclear out their other end. The fact is considering our demand for future energy, we'd likely need 10,000 nuclear power plants by 2030. No, thanks. Once again it's short-sighted and misinformed special interests trying to seed this terrible idea in Americans' minds. It will play a part, but the risks and cost simply are too high. Already we talk about constraints on water supply. Well, look back at big nuclear giant France. It suffered terrible droughts and rolling black-outs because there wasn't enough water to keep the towers cool. Bet you haven't heard much about this have you? I think a better planet is a better idea. I think most KLR riders prefer to leave a favorite riding destination, campsite, trail, etc. in better condition than when he arrived. It's crazy we don't have the same mindset for our nation at this point. We've lost our way and desperately need to find it. Brian

We do have a few good things going for us. We have nuclear (safe, inexpensive and something we can develop more. The nuclear waste - as long as it's radioactive it contains energy, can that be harnessed?) and we have oil. Now, oil, despite the doom and gloomers spreading lies, isn't running out, and like Europe (noticeable as I'm IN Europe right now) Diesel is a Damn Good Thing. Granted, using less polluting sources of energy would be noble, but at this point, we have few viable choices. I am no chemist, but I think that propane and methane are among the few things less polluting than Diesel. Gasoline isn't, but for some reason nobody likes the easy-to-refine Diesel in the US. Some alternatives would be to push a little more PV electricity for domestic use. Prices are coming down so you can offset a good amount at home with only a $20K ivestment. Nobody wants that either, since they rather buy a new car (more polluting than many old ones kept in good shape). We get special interest crap like Ethanol, that many people knew from the start was a horribly moronic idea, particularly with the 'environmental' aspect being the 'benefit'. Lobbyists make policy by essentially bribing our "elected for the people by the people" politicians into harebrained ideas. It works - try to tell someone with a flexfuel car that he's f'ing up the environment for the rest of us and see what happens! An idea would be to stop with the treasonous support of Israel and Egypt, stop foreign aid all together. Bring back the military and stop with "strategic" military placement around the planet. Strengthen our borders and bump up domestic manufacturing. We can buy oil with straight dollars instead of oddball trades. We can make immigrants adhere to our way of life instead of catering to theirs under the name of whatever freedoms they crave (religious comes to mind.. hey, pray 5x a day if you wish, but if that impacts your work performance, you get canned! - see Swift Manufacturing). I guess I just figure that we are just on our knees servicing far too many countries and people and neglecting our own kids, education, infrastructure (I drove to Texas a while back and compared to the AUtoBahn, our freeways are 4x4 tracks!!) It's embarrassing! On the flip side, it's vanity that keeps us wanting to be on top of the food chain. Even the dinosaurs died out, the planet didn't. Long after natural events (or nuclear war) has made the planet unsustainable for humans, the planet will still hum along fine. Maybe cockroaches will rule the planet? Would that be so bad, other than out of human superiority vanity?
