torque on doohickey bolt/balancer adjustment; happy guys? a doohicke

Post by nakedwaterskier » Mon Sep 29, 2008 8:04 am

Everytime I go to adjust my doohickey, the bolt is overtight when I break it loose. I tighten the bolt aprox 60 in-lbs with my torque wrench; But, it always seems to be 90 to 100 in-lbs when I break it loose. So, do you even have to use a torque wrench on an Eagle Mike Doohickey since whatever you set it?...soon it will be tighter than where you set it. You aren't going to bend an Eagle Mike doohickey unless you have no sense of feel or torque in your fingers/hands. Or should I just be setting the doohickey at 50 in-lbs to compensate? At below 40 in-lbs you might risk it actually loosening up on you while riding and it flopping...or do they always tighten up as you ride? Jeffrey
