Well I put Kenda K270's on my '99. Took them off and had the dealer put the new skins on and balance. When I picked them up, they only had about 19psi, and the front bead was not seated (although I didn't notice until I got home). So I aired it up a little high to try and seat it and it did most of the way, still about 1-2 inches that is below the rim lip. But I thought I'd take it for a spin to see how they rode and see if it would set the tire right. I never got out of my neighborhood or above 20mph. It was very weird feeling. I thought maybe just because I have tires with tread now vs my old bald ones. But the more I look at them the more I see. The dealer no way balanced because there are no weights on the front and the ones on the back are the same ones from the old tires. So I have to go have a confrontation now with the dealership (can't it ever just be done right the first time?). My question is whether or not the K270 is a directional tire?....I don't see any arrows and the tread pattern seems the same either way but wanted to verify before I talk to the dealer. Thanks

The K270 is a non-directional tire. However, cupping of the front tire is common on KLRs; so, to maximize wear, I flip the tire once it's about 40% of the way worn (2K miles). Mark

Maybe check that the yellow or white circle (about 1/2" diameter) with, normally a letter and number inside, is at the valve stem. That's the QC and balance mark on Kendas. You may also note that it doesn't say K270 on the tire sidewall. : ) I use ultra heavy duty or heavy duty tubes in my tires since that's like sticking a tire inside a tire. I run 32 front and 36 rear for pressures on pavement. After about 300-500 miles the walking out on curves will go away or you'll get used to it.
