diy - bad timing fixed

Post by Spike55 » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:55 pm

Summer 2007, I changed out the doohickey. Afterward, I always felt that there was a bit more vibration than before. I've run it this way for 6K and in the back of my mind, it has bugged me until I tore it apart yesterday. It appears that the timing was advanced a few degrees by my screw up. A small fraction of the rotor woodruff key's trailing edge was flattened to a knife edge by the rotor. This was due to the rotor being mis-alignment when I re-installed it. I did 100 miles today and there is a noticable difference: doesn't lug as easily in tight turns, etc. A lot smoother. Don R100, A6F
