I locktited my stock ones and these as well and always made sure they
were snug. I'm still running the lower stock bolts with no problem.
Short of attempting Snake River Canyon, I'm tough on this bike:
bumps, jumps and big humps (lots of gear) it's seen combat. I think
12.9 10mm upper bolts would improve things, but I'm not going to fuss
until another one breaks. I just hope I meet some cool people
if/when it does...ha ha. I will keep the group posted. Otherwise,
cover me, I'm going back in...

Here's how I mounted a cheap top box to my A19 for around-town use:

It is fine for around town, but too delicate for rough going. I realize I'm not the first to use this box on a KLR.
