what size carb jets for high altitude?

Post by rockiedog2 » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:40 pm

I climbed Pikes Peak(14110 feet) last spring on mine with the OEM jet in it...the thing ran great...just flew up the hill with no black smoke out the tailpipe or other symptoms of rich. There was a big trackhoe working up on top and he was belching the biggest cloud of black smoke you ever saw. I guess from that that diesels don't autoadjust for altitude?? Well whatever; I passed everything in sight on the way up. Ran great. There was a Harley sitting on the side of the road about 3/4 way up with 2 folks about 275# each sitting there on it...I wondered if the back cylinder was cooked in the thin air and with that load. The chrome looked pretty tho. Have a good trip Joe --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "steventbarnett" wrote:
