electrical question

On Wednesday nights I go riding with a group from a local town. They usually get back to town by dusk, but then I have a 30 mile ride through deer alley to get home. I am considering adding some driving lights to help light up the road. I have already switched to the brighter Napa bulb which made a big difference, but I would like some more light aimed out to the sides a bit towards the ditches. I realize that our KLR's have a somewhat marginal charging system, so I'm wondering what wattage lights I should be looking for. A set of those giant headlamps the Baja 1000 riders use would be wonderful Assuming that I am running no other accessories other than the upgraded headlamp bulb, how much wattage can I add assuming limited use one night a week?
