Just finished a cross-country trip yesterday on my 2008, (Green of
course). The total mileage on the tyres is 19000 km.
The trip mileage was 15000 km. The front wants to go out and do it
again, but the rear tyre is just about shot.
I weigh about 200 lb in the saddle, I had about 40 lb of gear in
saddlebags, the mileage was all pavement, mostly wet, at cruising speeds
of 100 to 120 km/hr., (62 to 74 mph). The day that I did 120 all day I
used about 300 cc of oil, (10 oz), but other than that the oil usage was
minimal
There was about 800 km of ferry ride too, but that didn't cause much wear.
I have to go and arrange another tyre today.
The only mechanical fault that showed up was that my Trip Odometer
registers the mileage, but cannot be reset. Maybe I should look at a
more reliable bike in future.

I would have been worried about the oil consumption. There aren't many
things more dangerous than a motor that uses oil and requires constant
monitoring so it doesn't run low enough to hurt itself.
Seems like we hear about a fair amount of 2008 models that have that issue
and I hope Kawasaki has a fix for it.
My 2007 hasn't used a drop as far as I can tell in the last 3K miles and I
ride it hard...

Scott,
A buddy in Arkansas bought a tee-shirt that you soak in water and it holds enough to keep
you cool for quite some time (believe he said up to 3 hours...), and you can wear it under
your mesh Joe Rocket once you buy one. ATGATT.
