4.60 vs. 5.10
My local dealer is back ordered on the IRC GP-1 in 5.10-17. I wanted
to give it a try because per the tire reviews here:
http://www.standoutnet.com/extras/mike/motorcycles/klr650/tires/
the GP-1 was the tire the Kenda was cloned from and it reportedly does
just as well on the dirt and better on the street being a softer,
grippier compound. Less durable but since I just dropped the bike on
some slipperier-than-usual gutter water I'm all for grip and the
throbbing knee has me taking it much slower in the twisties until my
confidence in this bike-on-stilts called a KLR gets back to normal.
I've gotten over 5k miles out of the Kenda K270 rear but it has a
flat-top now - very squared off and squirrely when cornering with
anything resembling gusto. Not bald but not too usable either.
Anyway, please excuse the digression. What I'd like to hear is if
anyone has run a 4.60 on the back before? Any opinions or experiences?
Thanks!
5.10 in. is almost exactly 130mm and 4.60 in. is about 116mm, giving
up a half inch in width. I run a 90/90 front and 110/90 rear on
my GS450 which about the same weight as the KLR. The GS450 corners
like a slot car.

throttle sleeve
There must be a way to separate two halves of the right switch housing (typically with two or three screws) -- how else would you replace the throttle cables?

I'm Not In Front Of The Bike Right Now, So I Could Be Wrong
