Ahh, Ducati stories... Friend of mine had an 850, had it tuned at Pro Italia, then on our annual run to Laguna Seca he comes flying by on the outside of a cliffside turn before diving into a small turnoff. The throttle had stuck wide open and he was lucky to find the kill switch in time. We opened it up to find a piece of mirror inside one of the throttle bodies. Mechanic must have been using it to synch the intakes. The rest of it had gone through the motor. He had to fight for it, but eventually got Pro Italia to overhaul the top end for free. Next year we're pulling out of a restaurant in Taft and the Duck chokes on its lunch, stalling about 5 feet into the street while leaned over. My buddy does his best with to paddle it along with one leg, but he final spirals into the pavement. Next year we're out in BF nowhere when Ducati bro pulls over with the bike on fire. The regulator/rectifier had failed in a very hot way and started to roast the Duck. After riding the pillion on my VFR for most of the race weekend, he hasn't ridden the Duck since. He got into KTMs instead, tricked out a 950 Adventure, and has had nothing but trouble with it. Now it collects dust while he rides an R1200GS and and HP2. Meantime, I've had the same KLR the whole time. I sold the VFR finally, not because it was givng me trouble, because it never did. I just wasn't riding it enough. __Arden
