I sold my beloved Barbie ('95 KLR 650, 32000 miles of smiles) in December and it was like loosing my wife... Almost... :) Anyhow, I made a deal on a bike via Craigslist.com and bought one in Sacramento, CA. with 9100 miles on it (now has 10500 miles)I flew in on Saturday afternoon (the 17th) and rode home. The whole trip is detailed(with some pics)here: http://tinyurl.com/3spr8t... My new rides name? "My Therapist" :) -Andy "Freedom is slavery, slavery is freedom" -George Orwell

SHIPPAGAN, New Brunswick - Luc Bourdon, a promising rookie defenseman with the Vancouver Canucks, was killed Thursday when his motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer in a crash near his hometown. He was 21. I rode my KLR from Tarzana, CA to Brentwood, CA this am. I left around 9:15 am. The Ventura Fwy/101 was slow but it wasn't so bad (drivers gave way or at least were paying attention) but the San Diego Fwy/405 was a nightmare. The drivers did not want to let motorcycles pass them/split lanes. I gave up and let a real street bike/rice rocket pass me and followed him. But, it was no use. Many cagers were openly hostile or just not paying attention/talking on cellphone etc. and it made the riding very dangerous. Then on a surface street in Brentwood, southbound cars were nice enough to stop to let me into the no signal intersection to make a left. I eased past the stop sign real slowly almost walking my bike. A woman going northbound zipped by me a few inches from my front tire and never saw me. She was reading and driving. Scarred the sh*t out of me. I finally made the left and followed her and caught her at the light and she was still reading. With her windows up and my fullface helmet on there wasn't much I could do short of kicking her car; but there were too many witnesses around. I am never going anywhere near a busy downtownish type area again between the hours of 630am and 1030am nor between 4pm and 8pm. Jeffrey
