turn signal reminder

Post by prackley » Fri May 16, 2008 12:54 pm

I installed a piezo turn signal reminder/alarm today. The cost was roughly $8 for the materials and it took about 1/2 and hour to make/install it. It sounds great and is just loud enough to get my attention-- I used the 237-059 piezo from Radio Shack and followed the instructions from this link: http://www.modernvespa.com/forum/topic449.html This is something that's been on my to-do list for quite a while and I'm glad I ginally got around to it. I used quick-disconnects on the buzeer so if I get tired of hearing it I can disable it with a qucik tug of the wire. I used some velcro tape to mount it to the fairing behind the intsrument panel. klr palm shade tree mechs (tech day in hawaii)

Post by Jeff Saline » Sun May 18, 2008 8:22 am

Listers, Just got the latest news from Phillip and Martin in Hawaii. Martin and his family are visiting friends on the islands and of course Martin can't stay away from helping as he can and playing with motorcycles. Below is most of the note I got from Phillip. I've also posted the picture in the group photo section in an album called "Martin in Hawaii". Yes, I realize how original that title is. : ) More another day if there is more. Best, Jeff Saline ABC # 4412 South Dakota Airmarshal Airheads Beemer Club www.airheads.org The Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota 75 R90/6, 03 KLR650, 79 R100RT <><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><><> Jeff, greetings from Hawaii. We had a mini tech day here on the island. My '06 needed a few things and I haven't had the time or experience to do the stuff. So I asked the Rev to come on vacation here to help me out. We had a tough time of it this morning working on the bike under a palm tree and beach umbrella. We got a few things done. My Dual Star center stand didn't want to go on and we managed to convince it that on the bike was where it belonged. After several unsuccessful attempts by myself, it turned out an extra pair of experienced hands were what was needed and we laid that sucker over on her side and made it work. We got the chain and sprocket aligned and tensioned properly. It had come back from the dealer after a tire mounting with the chain a little too tight and the bolts for the chain adjusters a little too loose. The bike was missing the tank breather tube so we replaced that and finished off with doing the T-mod to the carb breather tube. Although the part we found was more like a Y connector. We planned to adjust the valves but the Kawa Dealer has only one guy that knows anything about shims and he wasn't working on Sat. They said he'd trade out shims with me. We'll see what happens. We were also going to by pass the sidestand safety switch, but we ran out of light and energy. An afternoon at the beach will do that to you. More work to follow. Regards, Phillip and the Rev, from Hawaii.
