Actually, a new O-ring chain *is* stiff, because the o-rings aren't broken in yet. That's why motocrosser racers often swap on a non-O-ring chain for race day to get just a little more horsepower to the wheel rather than lost in the O-rings (lest you think of doing this on a KLR, they put a new chain on for each race). I put one of the DiD X-ring chains on my KLR 10,000 miles ago. One of the supposed advantages of the X-ring chains is that they aren't as stiff as O-ring chains. But I swear that brand new, right out of the box, I could hold the chain about 5 links back from the end and it'd just keep pointing straight rather than drooping. Note that like all O/X ring chains, this chain is permanently lubricated (all that "chain lube" does for these chains is condition the O-rings and provide rust protection).

Indeedy. A non-problem.
