I'm not sure I understand but are dualsport tires conforming to the International Motorcycling Federation limited to a half inch in knob height? Thanks for any enlightenment, Rod

fim approved tires

From poking around after googling 'FIM approved tires' I'd say you have to choose a tire and check it out. Dunlop says their D907 is FIM/DOT approved, but the D606 only says DOT. Here's one I haven't heard of that looks interesting: The newest addition, the OF-219 Enduro Competition tire, is the most aggressive dual-sport tire Excella offers, and it's also DOT and FIM approved...for really aggressive dual-sport work the new Excella Enduro OF- 219s come with a deep 15/32-in. tread to dig in on anything from hard pack to soft dirt. There's a cupped pattern providing stability to go with that traction, the tires are FIM competition approved and they're DOT speed rated to 92 MPH for the street. Anyone familiar with it? And this about a Bridgestone tire: ED663/660 series is the latest FIM-legal enduro tires by Bridgestone which provide strong traction and controllability...Real Enduro race tires that can also be used on public roads. Terrific traction, conform to FIM regulations. These are real Enduro race tires with dynamic block patterns and motocross compounds. Ideal for Enduro competitors who need off-road performance. __Arden
