Not to be a doomsdayer but check the newspapers are more and more companies are starting to "lay-off' pretty good numbers of folds, IMHO 2008 is going to be a year where companies starting reeling back, again! I have a friend at my company who is privy to monthly GLOBAL conference calls and he told me 2008 was the year of reducing head-count! I would love it if I was wrong but there is mounting evidence that it's could happen. PinkFloyd43 - Always working on the Dark Side Of The Moon

Both companies have been owned by one large company. The controlling company is merging White Bros into V&H, bringing all the WB people into V&H. V&H will no doubt offer the same products that WB did, they'll just have a different sticker on them. The in-depth article is out on the web, I read it but can't find it now?? GaryS

brake pads/sprockets

Post by rockiedog2 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 8:22 pm

Thanks for the advice on new chain and sprockets. Will start the trip on new ones. Just finished greasing the swingarm and installing a Progressive 500/560 spring from Fred. Was able to compress the spring in a common shop press with a little help from a friend...not exactly the safest way but didn't have any problems. Committed the classic dumbass error of reinstalling the chain without looping it thru the swingarm and had to take it all back out. Won't do that again. Installed a KTM front fender on top of a Happy Trails fork brace. That went ok til the test ride ...without the original high mounted front fender a blast of cold air comes up under the fairing and hits you right in the chest. Solved that by cutting up the old fender and remounting a short section in the original position. Looks funky but stops up the hole. Don't care how it looks. Built a homemade pannier rack and mounted a set of klr650.com panniers. That went ok but took about a week off and on to make the rack. What the heck a retiree's time isn't worth much, money wise... it's just that every day is a big percentage of what is left. Lots more mods going on here. Will probably have more questions. Thx again. Joe
