big bore kit or 16t sprocket

Is getting a larger one the best way to get closer to actual mph? 2) I suppose when one has the 16T on he really needs to be careful not to lug, which can easily be done by hitting a lower gear. 3) At the risk of being seen as rambling I have one more comment, uah, question. Why are the speedometers off -- showing that you are going faster than you really are? Could it be that it helps keep the speed down and therefore results in less accidents? ----------------------------------- Robert, 1) The odos are almost dead on so tweaking the front tire will make speedo error better as it makes the odo error worse. Besides, you'll never find a tire 2" larger in diameter easily! I ended out spinning my speedo needle on the shaft to improve the situation and have documented the results at www.xanga.com/watt_man with photos if that helps you too. 2) Exactly my feelings as well! That's what that magic lever is for on the left side of the gearbox. I run a 16 most of the time and love it - but when in the tight off-road stuff, a 14 goes on and is welcomed. 3) You might get a lot of opinions on that one. Some will argue that ALL speedos are off like this, but I calibrate all my cars / motorcycles and the KLR, by far, is the worst I've ever owned so I don't buy that story. Everything I've had was less than 3% off. This 7% KLR error is in a league of it's own. This is why I moved the needle and things are good again. Some people will argue that having it over-reporting speed somehow keeps them from speeding: This seems to be the equivalent of setting your clock ahead to not be late... I'd rather know the real time or real speed, not be lied to and always have to correct. Bill Watson Phoenix, AZ --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
