I want to trade my Black IMS 6.6 gallon tank for a White IMS 6.6 gallon tank. I dont want Translucent or Natural...I want White White. I bought the tank in July of this year.It has side vents and does not have any dents or scars. Regards,Gary

Gary Out of wonderment, just how much of the 6.6 gallons in those tanks are useable without having to lean the bike over? I remember years ago getting a larger Clark tank for my DR350 and it would only do about 1/2 gallon more than stock without laying it down to let the gas spill over the hump. Andy, From the looks of my new IMS, I think the last 35 miles will have to be done in 'humongous wheelie mode' or climbing out of a REALLY deep, steep ravine . . .

My IMS took 7.2 gal. the first time I filled it. It has taken 7.1 on a couple of occasions without tipping the bike. I don't think there can be much gas in the ears.

Once black...you never go back. There is no gas in the ears. Mine holds 6.95 gals and I've gotten over 350 miles before having to do "the tip." I consider it a nice feature. !@#k, I was in the middle of Baja riding 2-up, loaded down, headwinds and through mountains...talk about snake-eyes! I had no idea I'd only get 220 miles when it stopped. I needed another 10 miles or so to get to someone's house. Without the tip, it would have been ugly. So better to run out with SOMETHING left than just ka-push. Brian

After running dry...including burning all the reserve and having to do the tip over to get to a gas station....I have put as much as 7.1ish gallons in the tank to fill it back up. Regards,Gary --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Andrus Chesley" wrote:

Thanks Gary So were probably looking at 7 gallons useable without having to tip it over? Got my DL1000 about where I want it (15,800 miles last year testing modifications ;0))) so time to start getting the KLR ready for my retirement. Heck only have 22.000 miles on it in the last 8 years so it's got many many miles to go yet. Andy Chesley > Offshore Louisiana Sigh!
